Time-Honored Craftsmanship

Crafting a single Marfa Stance garment can take 16 to 41 hours, by a total of 8-10 craftspeople including pattern makers, quilters, hand sewers, machinists, quilters, leather and shearling specialists, hand finishers and quality controllers. At the end of the process, each piece has at least two rounds of quality checks before leaving the factory. By working with specialists in their craft, we support local industry to encourage younger generations to learn these much-desired skills.

By creating pieces that stand the test of time, and are cherished and coveted by their owners, we make a stance against overconsumption and trend-led textile waste. By committing to our modular design system, we ensure the ability of our designs to build, adapt and evolve.

Made in Italy

Our founder and designer, Georgia, has spent the past 20 years designing for world-leading luxury brands, allowing her to discover the best artisans and producers in the industry. As such, at Marfa Stance we chose to make our garments in partnership with these same small, family-run factories in Italy. Located in Florence, Modena and the region of Veneto, our specialists work meticulously to ensure the highest degree of quality.

Designing for Details

Crafting a truly modular garment to seamlessly adapt, without sacrificing quality or durability, requires expert knowledge of garment construction fused with a careful anticipation of the wearer's use. Our outerwear features utilitarian details masked as style enhancements that are almost imperceptible at first glance–reinforced, bound seams make for a neater transition between sides; elbow pleats and dropped shoulders allow for increased flexibility for arm movement; large pockets on both sides of each garment that negate the need for a bag and a cut-away, asymmetric cuff that adapt to form and functional tasks, such as typing on a laptop during a commute. Our unique quilting design creates a surprising light and lofty feeling, as the shape is round and open.

Each neckline measurement, shape and button-hole patch placement, as well as every accessory-facing shape, size and button placement is exactly the same across every single item. This means that an Accessory from 2019 can be styled with a new Coat from 2025, and inversely, a Coat from 2019 can be worn with an Accessory from 2025. Every item we design jigsaws together down to the detail, as part of our commitment to the modular design system we have established–unlike other brands that change seasonally. We are resolute that staying true to our concept is the only real way to achieve longevity.
