EVERY MOTHER COUNTS’ BACKGROUND

Motivated by the intrinsic human right to maternal health, Every Mother Counts is dedicated to ensuring that all people, everywhere, experience a safe, respectful, and equitable journey through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. We started by spotlighting stories told by those closest to the issue. Over time, these personal accounts have shone a spotlight on the global imperaive to transform maternal health. Since 2010, EMC has invested tens of millions of dollars to advance system wide change through the development of professional, dedicated, and compassionate providers in every setting who are focused on respectful care that centers mothers.

We stand as allies with our partners – community-led organisations, providers, advocates, and mothers and birthing people everywhere – and are proud to support their work as true leaders in maternal health. We believe that our partners know the needs of their communities best, and we are proud to collaborate and amplify their voices and solutions.


SUSTAINABILTY

We work to build a foundation of justice in maternal health and to dismantle the disparities in health experiences and outcomes that disproportionately harm Black, Indigenous, and other historically marginalised women and birthing people. We believe this can only be achieved with equity in access to and options for healthcare.
