British designer Georgia Dant started Marfa Stance in 2019. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, she spent years leading design teams at Burberry and Rag & Bone. Her early career inside the machinery of luxury fashion taught her how to create great garments that work, but also showed her how quickly trends rendered these pieces unfashionable. Her response was to develop a design system rooted in longevity and permanence instead. 

Balancing precision, vision and a determination to make garments that bring endless joy to the wearer, Georgia has engineered the perfect collection of modular products. Endlessly adaptable, enhanceable and evolving, Marfa Stance is a jigsaw for living.

Inspired by the ethos of celebrated artist Donald Judd, after a visit to Marfa, Texas, Georgia’s ‘eureka moment’ happened on a transatlantic flight. A frequent commuter between the US and the UK, she started sketching out an idea for the perfect modular garment. Adaptable. Reversible. Enhanceable. Forever wearable, regardless of lifestyle or climate. Miles high – in the sky above the Atlantic, the concept for Marfa Stance was born.

Every Marfa Stance product resists the unnecessary. An exercise in renewal and possibility, they’re a stance against waste – rooted in the belief that good design earns its place by working harder, for longer. 

Simplicity and resourcefulness are at the core of our process. Abundance stops things feeling special, so we source high-quality surplus or premium deadstock fabrics where possible. All fabrics are recycled, PFA-free and sourced domestically, within Italy. Creating collections this way brings us so much joy, but the best part? Our method is kinder to the planet and means you’re unlikely to see anyone wearing the exact same Stance as you.

Marfa Stance starts with a single idea – an intentionally modular garment that evolves with you. Consciously compatible, intelligent design. Longevity and intentionality are central to the design. A determination to be entirely seasonless means we can guarantee true sustainability.

We choose who we partner with very carefully. Since we began in 2019, our collections have been made by ethically managed, family-run, female-led factories in Italy. What we do is transparent, traceable and trusted. Materials, supply chain and sourcing, we’re genuinely proud of the relationships we’ve made and work respectfully to maintain. Working with surplus or deadstock materials is a conscious choice. This small pause in our process reframes the relationship between design + production. Practically, we create using a more thoughtful approach than the ‘norm’. Resourcefulness is something we celebrate. Using leftover materials whenever we can helps us promote a more mindful way to develop our products. We’re inspired by what the fashion industry leaves behind.
