What was your inspiration for the Wool and Satin Group?

Drawing from a vintage military wool liner, particularly its panelling, this collection echoes functionality with a luxury edge. The original liner, crafted from wool and designed to layer under longer coats, inspired us to blend wool for insulation and satin for ease of layering.

This capsule takes military influences and transforms them into a luxurious, dual-tone piece. One side features a sleek tonal finish, while the reverse showcases patchwork panels, made from surplus wools sourced from deadstock archives in London and Italy. We’ve reimagined utilitarian design to create a refined, elevated aesthetic.

HOW IS THE WOOL AND SATIN GROUP MADE?

Crafted from double-faced wool, lightweight nylon, and premium Italian satin, the Wool and Satin group introduces a new quilt design. We've doubled our signature onion quilting, resulting in a structured, elevated piece that provides a slimline silhouette.

The fusion of textures and a carefully selected colour palette brings versatility: one side offers a luxe, evening look, while the reverse has a more casual, sophisticated feel. Military-inspired binding throughout enhances durability and adds a robust finish to the garment.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE?

Like the Wool Varsity Quilt Jacket, production of the Wool and Satin group takes approximately 18 hours. A team of around five people oversees every stage, from cutting and quilting to stitching. After pressing and quality control, about 10 people are involved in the entire process.

Creating this dual-style jacket requires intricate craftsmanship, as each panel is distinct, and the binding adds structure and durability. The process is time-intensive, but the result is a durable, versatile piece designed for both form and function.

HOW IS THE DESIGN OF MARFA STANCE WOOL AND SATIN GROUP DIFFERENT?

REVERSIBILITY

The Wool and Satin group is fully reversible, offering two distinct styles in one. One side features a sleek, tonal satin finish, while the reverse showcases a patchwork design, crafted from luxurious surplus wools. This reversibility allows for maximum versatility, seamlessly shifting from a refined evening aesthetic to a casual, everyday look.

PRACTICALITY

The design prioritises both function and comfort. The satin side makes layering easy, providing a smooth surface, while the wool side delivers warmth and insulation when worn next to the skin. This combination of materials ensures that the jacket is both practical and adaptable, making it ideal for a variety of conditions.

COMFORT + DURABILITY

With double onion quilting, the Wool and Satin group delivers a structured yet comfortable fit. The jacket’s construction enhances durability, ensuring it can withstand the rigours of everyday wear. Military inspired binding reinforces the design, adding further robustness and longevity, while quilted panels on the back ensure comfort by reducing friction from bag straps.

MODULARITY

The Wool and Satin group’s modular design allows for personalisation. Like other Marfa Stance styles, it can be customised with add-ons such as a detachable hood for extra protection, or a reversible liner to increase warmth. This modular approach provides the wearer with the flexibility to adapt the jacket to their needs, while maintaining a cohesive and stylish look.
