Victoria Lovelock and Avril Harris

In honour of our fifth birthday month, we are celebrating the earliest supporters in our Marfa Stance community. Meet mother, daughter muse duo Victoria Lovelock and Avril Harris.

In this series, our muses look back on their first ever Marfa Stance pieces and how they’ve updated and renewed them over the years.Victoria is wearing her original Parachute Vest in Olive/Stone / Reverse Cobalt in XS, which she has updated this Spring with the new Corduroy Collar in Cobalt.Avril is also wearing her original limited edition Parachute Parka in Wine/Orange/ Reverse Wine in XS-S with her Shearling Collar in Olive.

For their second look, Victoria wears the new Parachute Vest in Mocha Brown / Soft Peach in XS with the Aviator Collar in Pale Jade/Yellow, which when she reverses adds the Knitted Hood in Ivory for a totally different look.Avril wears her Parachute Parka in Olive/Black/ Reverse Midnight in XS-S with a Faux Fur Collar in White, and when reversing to wear on the Midnight side, adds a pop of colour with her favourite Quilted Hood in Pink/Sage so she’s prepared for the changeable London weather.

Tell us about your background and talk us through your career journeys.

Victoria: I started my career in fashion and then went into the family business which I took over with my brother for 15 years until I decided to move into education in search of a more rewarding career and a better work life balance. I have been a teacher for 15 years, recently going back to study to learn British Sign Language. I am now a Communication Support Worker and volunteer in the Deaf community.

What are you both most proud of?

Victoria: I'm proud of what I have achieved, I'm proud of where I am now and grateful that I've had the opportunities and taken them.

Avril: I am most proud of my daughter.

You’ve both been supporters of Marfa Stance from the very early days. Do you remember how you first learnt about Marfa Stance and why do you like our brand?

Victoria: I first learnt about Marfa Stance through social media.I bought my first coat the Signature Quilt, although I really wanted the Parachute Parka and thought it was far too glamourous for me. I visited one of the early pop ups, met Georgia and Holly and the rest is history. I walked out with my glamourous Parachute Parka and orange collar!

Avril: My daughter introduced me to Marfa Stance and we love to visit their pop-ups and events together.

How do you style your Marfa Stance pieces and what is your favourite combination?

Victoria: With a smile. I probably wear my parachute vests daily, I'm better at changing my collars and hoods than my lipstick or jewellery. I often layer up pieces and enjoy all the different combinations.

Avril: The combinations depend entirely on my mood for the day.

How have you updated and renewed your first ever Marfa Stance pieces? Do you ever share your styles or buildable accessories with each other?

Victoria: I’ve been updating with different collars and hoods, but I’d definitely not share them, I would never get them back!

Avril: I enjoy the versatility and adding buildable accessories over time.What a good idea!
