First UK trunk show host - Carolyn Asome

Meet Carolyn Asome, our first UK trunk show host.

The Journalist and Entrepreneur hosted our very first trunk show at Mouki Mou on Chiltern Street back in November 2020 and has continued to work with us over the years, most notably collaborating on an early Marfa Muse project with photographer Alex Cameron. The proud owner of our archive reversible Trench Coat, she continues to effortlessly style her favourite Marfa piece for travelling, events and day-to-day in the city.

Carolyn is wearing her Trench Coat in Sand in size XXS. For her second look, she styles the Utility Shirt in White in size S with our Wool Skirt in Navy/Black in size S.

Tell us about your background and talk us through your career journey.

I always wanted to be a writer as a child. I read French and Italian literature at university and got my first job at the Times where I was a fashion editor for 15 years before going freelance as a design writer across the UK and US newspapers where I also write about architecture and interiors.

What advice do you have for fellow female entrepreneurs?

If you don't knock, you don't know. Also, Nike's 'Just do it'. Lastly if you are a mother juggling a family, don't be a martyr. I am very boring on the subject of the 50% split but I’m also baffled that in 2024 this is how we roll.

What are you most proud of?

Stepping out of my comfort zone and my children

You were our first ever trunk show host in the UK. How did you first learn about Marfa Stance and why do you like our brand?

On Instagram or through your PR. Marfa Stance offers such stylish versatile outerwear that can be dressed up or down.

How do you style your Marfa Stance piece from Winter to Spring?

Layered up knitwear and rollnecks with tights and a big skirt in the winter and a t-shirt and jeans in the summer.
