Amy Neunsinger + Carolyn Shaw

We are delighted to introduce our latest Marfa Muse, photographer and designer Amy Neunsinger and her mother Carolyn Shaw.

Amy’s illustrious 30-year career in photography and creative direction has led her to work with industry mavens such as Joanna Gaines, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, Architectural Digest and Vanity Fair.

Yet, what truly fills Amy with pride is the family life she has lovingly crafted within her own home. Her TV show 'Capturing Home' on Max reflects her passion as she skilfully transforms and reimagines homes to artfully and authentically reflect each family's unique story.

It’s no surprise Amy designed and lives in one of the most photographed homes in California, used as the backdrop for the likes of Apple, Google, Vogue and Vanity Fair.We were lucky enough to have her host our recent trunk show at her beautiful home.

Amy wears the Parachute Bomber in Navy/Olive in size XS- S with the Aviator Collar in Olive/Taupe, the Wool Parka in Navy in size S with Shearling Collar in Midnight and the Parachute Bomber in Pale Sage/White in size M-L with Aviator Collar in Natural/Orange.

Carolyn also wears the Parachute Bomber in Pale Sage/White in size M-L, as well as the Cropped Aviator Quilt in Black in size S with Aviator Collar in Black.

Tell us about your background

I am a west coast girl, born in Colorado and raised in Los Angeles.I have been married for almost 25 years to my best friend Shawn Gold, have two sons, Jackson a junior at Berkeley and August a senior in high school.

I am a photographer and designer and have a design TV show on Max called Capturing Home.

Talk us through your career journey so far.

Like all career journeys mine has not been a straight path but everything I have done has set me up for my success to date.At the age of 7 I was working in the kitchen of my mom's bakery...don't really think this was legal but it taught me my work ethic.

My 30 year photography career has introduced me to the best creatives in food, fashion, interiors and gardens. These experiences and people have shaped my point of view, changed the lens that I see the world through and helped me appreciate the beauty all around us.

What advice do you have for fellow female entrepreneurs?

Stay on your path, keep creating no matter what as slow and steady wins the race.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my family. My marriage and my relationships with my boys are what I treasure most.

What’s next?

What's next is a big question. I want to create happiness at home. It starts with house pride and beauty which lean into this happiness and then this happiness becomes contagious...I try to share this every day in my entertaining, photography, interior design and TV show.

How do you style your Marfa Stance pieces and why do you like the brand?

I am a no-nonsense dresser. My profession demands it but I am also around very well -dressed humans so I can't look or feel frumpy.I love the Parachute Vest with the Knitted Hood as it perfectly goes with my lifestyle and effortlessly makes me look cool. Kinda a no brainer.
