POLLY WILKINSON

After a fast-paced life in fashion, Polly and renowned photographer husband Ben Weller made the move from London to Sennen, Cornwall.  Now in the world of lifestyle and interiors, Polly has created her own path to fit alongside her role as a mother to two young children.

Shot by her husband Ben on the Cornish Coast, Polly wears our Signature Reversible Quilt & Reversible Quilted Hood.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND?

I formerly worked in fashion running a small ethical brand, but when I had children I moved into lifestyle and interiors. I now run two holiday lets - Carnacalla Cottage in Sennen, Corwall and Shepherdess in Sussex.  Both have uniquely different aesthetics but are geared towards relaxation and enjoying nature, with some hotel style luxuries.

WHAT LED YOU TO START YOUR BUSINESSES AND WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR CAREER NOW?

Having 2 young children and a partner that travels a lot meant I needed to have a job that I could do remotely from anywhere and that was less time dependent. I love creating spaces that people can really enjoy themselves in.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

Creating my own path and not following what others are doing. There seems to be these vast swathes of people moving to certain areas or countries. Neither my partner Ben or I knew a single person when we moved to Sennen 3 years ago.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS/CREATIVES?

Read ‘Let my people go surfing’ by Patagonia Founder Yvon Chouinard. Build things on your terms, not what others want you to be or suggest you be. Do less well. A really great mentor of mine once said – get ambitious with being focused.

HOW DO YOU STYLE YOUR MARFA STANCE PIECE?

My Marfa Stance Quilt is a beautiful piece of everyday attire, I pair with Blundstones as I live in the countryside. It’s such a practical, versatile piece, well made with warm, deep pockets so no need for a bag, which suits my lifestyle. It’s really chic but doesn’t feel flashy. Photography Ben Weller
