TELL US ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND?

I started my career at Matches Fashion and then went on to be a buyer for an independent womenswear store, travelling around multiple times a year and buying the latest collections - my favourite part was discovering up and coming designers. I then got into styling, which was a big passion of mine and from that started to grow an online following through my blog and Instagram. I now see myself as an online personal stylist - I take what I've learnt from fashion buying and styling and put it into my content to help women curate their wardrobes.

WHAT LED YOU TO WORKING IN FASHION?

I've always been interested in fashion and love the way an outfit can make you feel- giving you a confidence boost or acting as a comfort blanket. Real-life styling has always interested me; when street style blew up, it excited me more than what was going down the runway.

TALK US THROUGH YOUR JOURNEY SO FAR?

I knew I wanted to work in fashion, but I didn't know what area; it's been good to try out different areas and work out what I love the most. The growth of online has helped opened doors for me that were previously closed in the fashion industry.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

I had my children very young and I started my career when they were all little and not the traditional way. Now they're older (20, 19 & 16), I realise how resilient I was starting in a world notoriously hard to break into. It wasn't always easy, but hard work and passion led me to work with brands I could never imagine when I was starting out. So, I would say combining motherhood and starting a career that I love is what I'm most proud of.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHERS WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT GETTING INTO SIMILAR ROLES?

Work out what it is you love in the fashion industry; I tried many things before landing on what I do now. I assisted when I could, learned on the job, and threw myself into it even if I was a nervous wreck inside. I knew what my long-term goal was, so I gave everything a go. Nothing happens overnight, but if you believe you have something to offer, go for it. I love listening to podcasts like 'How to fail' & ‘How I built this' as it gives you the confidence to know not everyone has it figured out and rarely makes a success of something the first time.

HOW DO YOU STYLE YOUR MARFA STANCE PIECE?

Marfa Stance pieces are so special and unique & don't need a lot of styling. That's what I love about them; they will add an edge to the simplest of outfits, whether it's jeans and a tee, a tracksuit or knitted dress - I'll be teaming mine with chunky Chelsea boots and cosy knitwear this season. Photographer: Kasia Clark
